How to Sustain Energy All Day Long
One of the most frequent issues my students deal with tends to go like this:
"Pete. I love eating plant-based. The food is delicious and I feel great when I eat it. But at certain points of the day, I just get so tired."
Fatigue is a killer, and it's one of the reasons people hop off the plant-based train.
We're told (by me, in particular) that a plant-based diet will supercharge your energy and help you feel great all day long.
So when we try the recipes and are still feeling sluggish, it's hard not to think:
"What gives? Am I getting ripped off?"
Thankfully, there is a simple solution to this common problem.
The issue isn't a plant-based diet.
It's that you're not eating enough food.
That's right.
Whereas most diets and nutrition plans focus on restriction, one of the beauties of a plant-based diet is that we get to focus on abundance.
Here's the deal:
Plant-based foods tend to be high in volume and low in calories
(Unless you're eating ultra-processed junk, in which case the formula is reversed. That's when the deadly combo of sluggishness and weight-gain rears its ugly head).
So this means that, when we eat a plant-based meal, we tend to feel pretty full!
But then not long after we get really hungry again.
In many cases, that hunger disguises itself as fatigue.
Which means if you're eating multiple whole, plant-based meals a day, but you're still feeling tired by the time each meal comes along, you're probably not eating enough.
This is why I recommend consuming multiple snacks throughout the day.
Isn't that great? You get free license to eat more everyday. Not starve yourself.
Gosh, I love this way of eating.
By having a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack, you are stabilizing your hunger, keeping blood sugar at a good level, and providing your body the energy it needs to power through your day.
Because of these benefits, you should be having three snacks per day:
One before lunch
One before dinner
And one before bed
These snacks don't have to be huge, cumbersome, or expensive.
But if you include the right combination of nutrients, you'll be giving your body exactly what it requires to sustain its energy and feel great. All day, every day.
So what are those nutrients? And what snacks should we be consuming?
In today's video, I teach you about the 5 snacks you should eat every day to increase your energy!
I'm sure these snacks will help with your fatigue and leave you feeling much better on a daily basis!
